: The study involves no human participants. WM collected the green algal genus <i>Volvox</i> from the water column in a marsh in Thailand. Collection was conducted in accordance with the Plant Variety Protection Act, B.E. 2542 (1999), Section 53, Department of Agriculture, Thailand, which addresses the collection of plants for research, study, or experimentation for non-commercial purposes. The analysis of Thai materials was conducted in accordance with a Memorandum of Understanding between the University of Tokyo and Khon Kaen University for international cooperative research on the systematics, phylogenetics, and evolution of freshwater green algae in Thailand (2017–2021). A material transfer agreement was arranged between Khon Kaen University and the University of Tokyo, with WM as the provider scientist and HN as the recipient scientist.
