Ethics approval and consent to participate
: The ethics committees at all institutions that participated in the Japanese Association for Acute Medicine (JAAM) study group reviewed and approved the study protocol. These committees waived the need for written informed consent from the study participants, given the retrospective and anonymized nature of the study.
