: The research plan to collect data from nationwide ICUs and use them for the analysis of Japanese epidemiological data was approved by the Ethical Review Committee of Hiroshima University (approval number: E-1965). As only publicly available data were used in this study, the need for institutional review board approval and patient consent at each institution was waived.
