: A.G Omisore is a Senior Lecturer and Consultant Public Health Physician. His research interest is mainly focussed on public health issues, especially epidemiology of Non Communicable Diseases. B. Omisore is a Consultant Family Physician. Her research interest is mainly focussed on family medicine, in particular, lifestyle medicine as it affects the family. E. A. Abioye-Kuteyi is a Professor of Family Medicine. His research areas include family medicine and population health. I. S. Bello is a Consultant Family Physician. His research interest is mainly focussed on family medicine and preventive care. S. A. Olowookere is a Senior Lecturer and Consultant Family Physician. His research interest is mainly focussed on family medicine and public health.
: Ethical approval was obtained from the Research and Ethics Committee of the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals Complex, Ile-Ife (International and national registration numbers- IRB/IEC/00045553& NHREC/27/02/2009a). The approved protocol number for the study was ERC/2011/04/13. Informed consent was obtained from each of the participants’ parent and assent was taken from the respondents. The response rate of the survey was over 95% as parents to whom the informed consent forms were sent, signed the forms and permitted their children to participate in the study.
