: Ethical approval for this study with identification number (SBAHS/AA/OT/22141/2023-2024) was obtained from the Ethics and Protocol Review Committee of the School of Biomedical and Allied Health Sciences of the University of Ghana. Additionally, approval was obtained from the General Research Ethics Board (GREB) at Queen’s University, Kingston, Canada, with identification number (TRAQ#:6041058). Each participant had the study objectives explained to them. Those who were interested participated voluntarily and understood they were not under compulsion. They were free to decline participation at any point in the study without any consequences to them. Each participant gave their informed consent. Every member of the research team completed the required Course on Research Ethics (CORE) training. As advised by GREB, data was kept on Google Drive, a secure storage platform that the research team and the study team’s chosen community partners could access. Reducing power disparities brought on by ownership in the study process included making sure community partners had access to the project’s data (Chevalier, ; Wallerstein et al., ). Transcripts never contained real names.
