Ethics approval and consent to participate
: In Denmark, when questionnaire-based population studies do not involve human biological material, the ethical authority is the local institution. As is customary for the HBSC [] survey, we obtained ethical approval from each school’s board of parents and students’ council, and we informed the students – orally and in writing – that their participation was voluntary and anonymous. The HBSC protocol complied with the Declaration of Helsinki II.
