Ethics approval and consent to participate
: The proposal was ethically approved by the ethical review committee of Bahir Dar University, College of Medicine and Health Science. Permission letter was obtained from Amhara Regional Educational Bureau, and provided to the specific study area to conduct the research.Parents of children were informed of their children’s participation and gave informed written consent for their children to participate. Assents were also collected from children. Participants positive for any of the soil-transmitted helminths were treated with a single dose of Mebendazole (500 mg) and Praziquantel (40 mg/kg, single dose) was given for children infected with Schistosoma mansoni.
