Ethics approval and consent to participate
: This study was approved by the Norwegian Regional Ethics Committees for Medical and Health Research (project number 2019/540). All elderly persons were deemed able to give informed consent by the home-care staff in the community. All participants were informed both verbally and in writing with an outline of the purpose of the study and their voluntary participation was explained. All participants could take part in sharing meals and not in the study, which would not affect the intervention of sharing meals. We obtained written informed consent from all participants and guaranteed their confidentiality. We also informed all participants about their right to withdraw from the study at any stage and reassured the elderly persons that this would not affect their current and future access to home care.
