: The study was conducted in accordance with the Declaration of Helsinki and ethical approval was obtained from the University of Gondar, School of Biomedical and Laboratory Sciences Research and Ethical Committee (Ref. No. SBMLS/27/93). A letter of permission was obtained from the central Gondar health and educational offices. Written informed consent was obtained from the parents or guardians of the children. Written and verbal assent was also obtained from the students who agreed to participate. The study findings were communicated to parents or guardians with a recommendation to seek treatment at nearby health centers.
