All athletes were aware that the scientific investigation and analysis may occur under their contractual agreements. A waiver of consent was permitted by the UNSW Human Research Ethics Committee under the National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Human Research [ ] as obtaining consent was deemed impracticable, the research posed low risk, and adequate safeguards protect participants’ rights and privacy. Nonetheless, all data collection and handling conformed to recommendations of the Declaration of Helsinki.
