: The animal experiment was performed in accordance with the animal care and use guideline set by the National Institute of Health and Babcock University Health Research Ethics Committee approval was obtained. <i>Justicia secunda</i> leaves were obtained in fresh condition from a farm at Usaka-Umuofor, Isiala Ngwa North, South-Eastern, Nigeria. The plant was identified and authenticated at Forestry Research Institute of Nigeria, Ibadan, Oyo State with voucher specimen number 112177.
