: All applicable institutional and national guidelines for the care and use of animals were followed. The sampling of fish and amphipods was conducted in accordance with the Japanese Fisheries Act and the relevant regulations of the local government (Shiga Prefecture). No ethical permission is required for the described scientific sampling using cast nets in accordance with the Shiga Prefecture Fisheries Adjustment Regulations. The described methods were conducted in compliance with the Regulation on Animal Experimentation at Kyoto University and were approved by the Kyoto University Animal Experimentation Committee.
