: All methods were carried out in accordance with relevant guidelines and regulations. All experimental protocols were approved by a named institutional committee. This research was conducted under the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) permit numbers 20-250-26, 20-240-13, 20-230-12 and 20-220-13 issued by Nanjing Forestry University. All humans interviewed agreed on sharing the information about the past presence of treefrogs on their land, and it did not include any information about any human being. We did not manage to ask the frogs for their consent, despite the editorial staff asking for it.
