: Başak Bilecen is Rosalind Franklin Assistant Professor in Sociology at the University of Groningen. She is an affiliated researcher with Center on Migration, Citizenship and Development at Bielefeld University. Her research focuses on international migration and transnational studies, social protection, social inequalities, and social network analysis. She is the author of <i>International Student Mobility and Transnational Friendships</i> (Palgrave Macmillan 2014). She has co-edited 3 special issues in international peer-reviewed journals (<i>Population, Space and Place</i> in 2015, <i>Journal of Ethnic and Migration Studies</i> in 2017, and <i>Social Networks</i> in 2018).
