Ethics approval and consent to participate
: Ethical approval was gained from the University of Huddersfield, School of Human and Health Sciences Research and Enterprise Committee. Attention was given to informed consent, anonymity and confidentiality. Bearing in mind the participants’ self-identified “service user/carer” status, emotional and physical safety through the training and gathering of data was of particular importance.Participant consent was obtained prior to the first training session.
: Participants were informed on the Particpiant Information Sheet that: ‘An evaluation report will be produced and at some point, and findings may be published in a journal or report. In both cases, your anonymity will be ensured’. All particpants consented ‘I give permission for my words to be quoted (by use of a number)’ as part of the enrolment and consent process prior to the pre-training survey.
