: This evaluation involved human participants and was approved by the Biomedical Science Research Ethics Committee of the University of the Western Cape (Ethics Reference Number: BM22/4/3), the Mozambique National Bioethics Committee for Health (Reference: 588/CNBS/22), and the National Health Sciences Research Committee of Malawi (Protocol # 22/08/2987) (see additional file 1). The study adhered closely to the ethical guidelines and regulations of the respective ethics committees. Participants were provided with an information sheet.
