: The ethical approval was not required for this PPI project. The patients and members of the public were actively involved in the research project but were not participating as research participants. They were acting as collaborators by providing valuable knowledge and expertise based on their lived experience. The LYSA trial was granted ethical approval by the Clinical Research Ethics Committee of Cork Teaching Hospitals in December 2020 (ECM 4 (y) 20/10/2020).
