: The study protocol was approved by the Ethical Review Committee of the College of Medicine and Health Sciences, Wollo University. Informed assent was obtained from the caregivers/guardians of study participants younger than 18 years of age. Study subjects aged 18 years and above gave their informed consent after explaining the aim of the study to them. For illiterate caregivers/guardians and study participants, thumb-printed consent was secured by having an independent literate witness. Study participants or caregivers/guardians had a right to refuse and could withdraw from the study to be included. Data were collected anonymously without having names and key identifiers of the participants. Study participants who had scabies infestations were linked with the respected cluster health center of the study <i>kebeles</i>.
