: The study was conducted according to the guidelines of the Helsinki Declaration. Ethical approval was obtained from AMREF ethics and scientific review committee (protocol number P919/2020) while a research permit was obtained from the National Commission for Science and Technology (NACOSTI/P/21/9739). Written assent and parental consent were obtained from all the adolescents < 18 years and their parents or primary caregivers while informed consent was obtained from all adolescents ≥ 18 years, prior to data collection.
