: This study was approved by the Ethics Committee of the Gifu University Graduate School of Medicine (no. 2020–254) and was conducted in accordance with the Declaration of Helsinki. Written informed consent was obtained from patients whose anti-H. pylori antibodies were measured between May and June 2021. Due to the retrospective nature of the study, written informed consent was not required for patients and healthy subjects whose anti-H. pylori antibodies were measured between January 2014 and February 2021. Instead, an opt-out procedure was used in which a notice in the hospital was posted that included the study protocol and gave participants the opportunity to opt out.
