Ethics approval and consent to participate
: Ethical approval for <i>Portuguese Prevalence Study of Obesity in Childhood</i> (PPSOC) was given by the Portuguese Commission for Data Protection which requires anonymity and nontransmissibility of data, corroborated by the <i>Direcção Geral de Inovação e Desenvolvimento Curricular</i> (Portuguese Institution of the Ministry of Education). In addition, the study was conducted according to the guidelines in the Declaration of Helsinki protocols, and the permission to collect the data was also obtained from the principal’s office of the schools and from the parents or guardians of the children, who signed an informed consent form indicating their consent to participate in the study.
