: Participants were recruited in the MINIMat trial after providing a written, informed consent. In the cohort study, parents or other legal guardians provided written approval before the child’s enrollment. All the participants were informed that their ability to receive and utilize standard medical services would not be hindered by their withdrawal from the research at any time. The privacy of the information was carefully maintained. Also, the study followed the Helsinki Declaration throughout the conduct. For this study, ethical approval was collected from the ethical review committee at icddr, b and the research ethics committee of Faculty of Medicine at University of Tsukuba.
