: All studies described herein were approved by the Human Ethics Review Boards of Kurume University (No. 20263). Informed consent was obtained from all patients who developed fever following international travel and presented to Kurume University Hospital, permitting the use of anonymized clinical information related to their travel history and febrile illness, as well as the performance of laboratory analyses using methods not available in routine diagnostic laboratories for the identification of causative pathogens. Oral consent was obtained and documented in the medical records.
