: The study received approval from the Institutional Review Board of Bahir Dar University, Science College (Ref: PRCSVD/514/2015). A permission letter was obtained from the Amhara Public Health Institute, and support letters were secured from zonal health departments, district health and education offices, and selected primary schools and kebele administrations. Informed written consent was obtained from adult participants and the parents/caregivers of child participants, while assent was obtained from children. All participants who tested positive for S. mansoni were treated with the standard dosage of praziquantel (40 mg/kg).
