: This study was conducted in accordance with the ethical principles of the Declaration of Helsinki. The protocol was reviewed and approved by the Ethical Review Committee of the National Institute of Parasitic Diseases, Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (Approval No. 20160810). All survey and examination activities were implemented under the framework of the national echinococcosis prevention and control project. Before participation, all individuals received detailed information regarding the purpose, procedures, potential risks, and benefits of the study. Patients diagnosed with echinococcosis during the study were offered free pharmacological treatment or received financial support for surgical intervention, in line with the project’s health coverage provisions.
