We also have approval from the local institutions in Tanzania: National Institute of Medical Research (NIMR), (Reference: NIMR/HQ/R.8a/Vol. IX/3352) and the Ifakara Health Institute—Institutional Review Board (IHI-IRB), (Reference: IHI/IRB/EXT/No: 22 – 2019). Informed written consent was obtained from all interviewees prior to the focus group discussions, quantitative empirical study, and the quantitative feedback survey, including consent to be audio recorded during the focus group discussions. Potential participants were informed of the voluntary nature of the study and had at least 24 h to consider taking part. Efforts were made to create a safe place for sharing experiences during the focus group discussions. The ethical implication of having a smartphone placed into participants’ homes was considered, appropriately dealt with, and have successfully obtained ethical approvals from the University of Oxford, National Institute of Medical Research (NIMR) and Ifakara Health Institute – Institutional Review Board (IHI-IRB).
