: All EHR were coupled to address records with support of a ‘Trusted Third Party’. Patient morbidity data were pseudonymized. The Nivel Primary Care Database complies with regulations of the Dutch Data Protection Authority as well as the Dutch law on use of health data for epidemiological research purposes (Dutch Civil Law, Article 7:458). This law states that neither medical ethical approval nor informed consent is needed for epidemiological studies that use electronic health records without identifiable data.
