: Ethical approval to conduct the study was granted by the Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS) Institutional Review Board (Ref. No. DA.282/298/01.C/). Additional permissions were obtained from the district medical officer (DMO), district TB coordinators, and the heads of TB clinics at the selected sites. Written informed consent was obtained from all study participants prior to enrollment.
