: The research was carried out as part of the MRC Health Systems (IndiaZooSystems) and MRC Global Health and Context (IndiaZooRisk) projects, which was approved by the Health Ministry Screening Committee (HMSC) (VIV0562023) and the respective Institutional Ethics Review Boards of the Ashoka Trust for Research in Ecology and the Environment (IRB/CBC/0003/ATV/07/2018 and IRB/CBC/006/ATV/10/2021) and the Institute of Public Health (IPH) Bangalore (IEC-FR/04/2017) in India, and the Human Research Ethics Committee of the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (17–062 and 20–051) in the United Kingdom.
