: Ethical approval for the study was obtained from the Ethics and Research Committee of Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, AKTH, Kano (NHREC/21/08/2008/AKTH/EC/2877, dated 1st of January, 2020; and updated on the 5th of January 2022 with ethical clearance number NHREC/28/01/2020/AKTH/EC/3196). Before enrolment in the study, written informed consent was obtained from the parents or legal guardians of the participants, and assent for children aged 7 years and older. Confidentiality was ensured. Children found to have right ventricular dysfunction, other cardiac anomalies or poor control of their bronchial asthma were counselled and referred to paediatric cardiologist/pulmonologist for further evaluation and appropriate treatment.
