Ethics approval and consent to participate: All experiments were conducted according to the Canadian Council on Animal Care guidelines for the care and use of laboratory animals and under the supervision and approval of our local animal care committee, Comité de protection des animaux du Centre Intégré Universitaire de Santé et de Services Sociaux (CIUSSS) de l'Est-de-l'île-de-Montréal (Approved Protocol No. 2022–2895). The study follows the Declaration of Helsinki. All subject recruitment procedures and informed consent forms, including consent to use renal biopsy samples for research purposes, were approved by the Maisonneuve-Rosemont Hospital Research Ethics Board (#2023–3307) and written informed consent was obtained from each patient.
