: This study was originally designed to investigate the ectoparasites of Varanus komodoensis within Komodo National Park. The incidental tick bite case involving a human was handled according to ethical and biosafety guidelines. The affected individual was informed about the study purpose and voluntarily provided consent for the documentation and publication of anonymized information and images. The study protocol was approved by the Research Ethics Committee, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Universitas Gadjah Mada, Yogyakarta, Indonesia (Approval Letter No. 79/EC-FKH/Int/2024).Access to wildlife genetic resources was authorized by the Directorate General of Forest Protection and Nature Conservation, Ministry of Forestry, Republic of Indonesia (Permit No. SK.114/KSDAE/SETKSDAE/KSA.2/6/2024).
