: Prior to commencing the study, the methodology was subjected to an ethical review by the University of South Australia Human Research Ethics Committee (ID: 203491). To ensure informed consent, potential participants were provided with verbal and written information outlining the study’s aims and how data collected would be used and stored. Ethical considerations that were considered included: the privacy of participant personal information (maintained through de-identification of ultrasound images and video recordings); Vulnerable populations with participants under 18 years of age were excluded from the study. Potential existed for detection of unknown heart abnormalities during cardiac ultrasound image acquisition. GP details were collected at the time of consent and if the senior sonographer suspected an abnormality, the participant was advised appropriately, and their GP informed to ensure that an official referral for a cardiac ultrasound was performed and assessed by a cardiologist.
: As part of the informed consent process, participants were informed that the group, de-identified data would be published to disseminate the scientific results.
: At the time of completion of this project the main author (KH) was a Master of Research student at University of South Australia and employed as a Clinical Applications Specialist for GE HealthCare Australia.
