: This study was approved by the Ethics Committee of Tohoku University Hospital and was performed in accordance with the 1964 Declaration of Helsinki and its later amendments (protocol identification number: 34942). As intraoperative re-ballooning was not a planned procedure, ethics committee approval was not sought preoperatively. However, both patients had been informed about potential complications and outcomes, including unexpected events, and gave their consent. We also explained the additive procedure postoperatively and obtained the consent for it retrospectively.
