Ethics approval was awarded by the RTI International Institutional Review Board (IRB) and informed consent was obtained from all participants. RTI’s Federalwide Assurance number is FWA #3331 is effective until 8/9/2027. A Federalwide Assurance (FWA) is an agreement between an institution and the US government that all federally funded research with human subjects will be done according to appropriate federal regulations. RTI’s FWA allows RTI to undertake its own IRB review and monitoring of research with human subjects. RTI’s IRB committees are also registered with Office for Human Research Protections for both the Department of Health and Human Services and Food and Drug Administration–regulated research (registration expires 2/22/2027).
