The University of Rochester’s Research Subjects Review Board determined that the project met federal and University criteria for exemption (RSRB Approval # STUDY00004035). El Comité de Bioética de la Facultad de Ciencias de la Salud (COBE-FACS) at Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra (the primary academic partner in the Dominican Republic) also approved the project (COBE-FACS-EXT-001–3-2019–2020), as did the national IRB committee for the Dominican Republic (Consejo Nacional de Bioética en Salud (CONABIOS; Approval #029–2020)).
