: We received approval from the Research Ethics Committee (REC) at Makerere University, ensuring adherence to guidelines regarding informed consent, honesty, avoidance of harm, and confidentiality. We then shared the clearance documents with local data collection units to reinforce transparency and compliance. To foster respectful interactions with participants, the lead author introduced the study to Local Council leaders (LC1) and stakeholders across the sub-counties, explaining the study’s purpose and objectives. Neutral locations were selected as venues for focus groups and interviews to ensure a comfortable and unbiased setting. Informed consent was obtained from all participants, who were thoroughly informed about potential risks, including time commitment, cognitive strain, and psychological discomfort. Participants were assured of their right to withdraw at any time. Confidentiality was strictly enforced by omitting identifying information in reports. Regular debriefings and a WhatsApp group enabled smooth communication among team members and aided the quick resolution of issues as and when they arose.
