Ethics approval and consent to participate
: The study was conducted after obtaining ethical clearance from the Institutional Review Board of University of Gondar with IRB number of O/V/PRCS/05/369. An official letter of cooperation was written to Gondar city administration. After a clear and detailed explanation of the purpose, risks, and benefits of the study, written informed consent was obtained from each of the mothers/study participants. We told mothers that participation was voluntary and that they can withdraw at any time if they are not comfortable during the interview. During data collection, mothers identified with clear acute respiratory infection were referred to the health institutions for appropriate treatment. Personal identifiers were not included in the written tool to ensure confidentiality.
