Ethics approval and consent to participate
: Human ejaculates were obtained (following the provision of written, informed consent) from the Assisted Reproduction Unit at Lille University Medical Center (Lille, France). All the donors (age range: 30–37) had consented to use of the ejaculates for research purposes. Furthermore, the study protocol was approved by the local investigational review board (Comité de Protection des Personnes Nord Ouest IV, Lille, France; reference HP 16/53). The study was conducted in accordance with Lille University Medical Center’s regulations on clinical research.
