Ethics approval and consent to participate
: According to the Italian legislation (D.lgs. 26/2014, the act on the protection of animals used for scientific and educational purposes, which was passed in March 2014 and transposed Directive 2010/63/EU into current Italian legislation), avian embryos are not considered as “live vertebrate animals”, so the approval of Animal Ethics Commission was not required.
