: The alfalfa cultivars in this study were collected from Cangzhou Station of the China Forage and Grass Research System, located in Cangzhou, Hebei Province, North China (latitude 39°37’N, longitude 98°30′E, elevation 1480 m). No specific permit was required for the field collection of alfalfa cultivars and the location is not privately-owned or protected in any way. The thrips are common agricultural pests and are not included in the “List of Endangered and Protected Animals in China”.
