Ethics approval and consent to participate
: The study was approved by the School of Biomedical and laboratory Science, University of Gondar (SBMLS892/10) and AHRI/ALERT Research and ethical review committee (AF-10-015). Each study participant was informed about the objective of the study and written informed consent was obtained from each participant before they were enrolled and asked to give sample. Written informed consent was also obtained from the legal guardian/parent on behalf of the child / young person. The legal guardian/parent have been informed of the right to withdraw the child / young person from the study at any time. Assent was asked for children participants under the age of 16 years in addition to their parents/guardian consent. All confirmed cases were linked to the appropriate department for proper treatment and followed-up as per the guideline of the UoGH.
