: Ethical approvalThe study was carried out according to the Declaration of Helsinki. Informed consent from the subjects was NOT required. All mentioned procedures in the animal study were performed according to Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals (8th edition, National Academies Press). The animal study was approved by the institutional animal care and used committee, Zagazig University (ZU-IACUC) with approval number ZU-IACUC/3/F/159/2019. The study was performed in compliance with the ARRIVE (Animal Research: Reporting of <i>In Vivo</i> Experiments) guidelines. Clinical <i>S. aureus</i> isolates were kindly provided by the medical stuff at clinical laboratories of Zagazig University Hospitals and El-Ahrar Educational Hospital in Zagazig, Egypt. The patients were NOT directly involved in the current study and therefore the consent to participate from patients was not required.
