: Before the study, an ethical approval letter was written by the Institutional Review Board (IRB) of Addis Ababa University College of Health Science Department of Anesthesia (reference number: Anes 15/2021/2022). Then, a legal letter was submitted to the study hospitals directors explaining the purpose of the study, and ethical clearance was obtained from each study hospital. The study participants’ families were informed about the study’s purpose before data collection begun. Then, after obtaining informed written assent from each participant’s family and after they agreed to participate in the study, data were collected using a pretested structured questionnaire prepared in English. The name and addresses of the participants were not recorded in the questionnaire. Furthermore, this research has been performed in accordance with the Declaration of Helsinki (all the basic principles of human research ethics: respect for a person, beneficence, voluntary participation, confidentiality, and justice were valued. This study is reported according to the Strengthening the Reporting of Observational Studies in Epidemiology (STROBE) criteria [20].
