: The MITOCARE trial was approved by the local or regional institutional review boards/ethics committees in each of the 10 respective sites and coordination of the approvals are handled by the safety and ethics monitoring committee [CitationRef removed]. The CHILL-MI trial was approved by the ethics commission of the medical University of Innsbruck and of the University of Vienna for Austria, the committees of science ethics of the capital region for Denmark, and the ethical review board in Lund for Sweden.
