: Research was performed in accordance with the Declaration of Helsinki and carried out in accordance with relevant guidelines and regulations The data protection regulation was followed, and the study is registered at the Danish Data Protection Agency (PVH-2014–002) and at the Danish Patient Safety Authority (R-21013122). According to Danish law (i.e. the Act on Research Ethics Review of Health Research Projects, Act number 593 of 14 July 2011, Sect. 14(2)) notification of questionnaire surveys and medical database research projects to the system of research ethics committee system is only required if the project involves human biological material. Thus, approval from the Committee on Health Research Ethics was not required as no biomedical intervention was performed in this study. As it was a register study no consent of individual patients was required, which also applies for the obtained calls from Copenhagen EMS, where informed consent is also waived under Danish law. Data were anonymized prior to analysis with a unique seven-digit reference-id.
