: This study was conducted during a Spanish research expedition to the “Juan Carlos I” Spanish Antarctic base (BAE). All the activities related to the study formed part of the Spanish polar research crew’s survival training program and were carried out under relevant guidelines and regulations. The study received authorization from the Spanish Polar Committee, attached to Spain’s Ministry of Science and Education, and member of the Council of Managers of National Antarctic Programs (COMNAP), which exempted ethical approval due to its survival training nature, and because it did not involve any human or animal experiments.
