Thus, informed consent for human participation is not required.In Germany, the use of social health insurance claims data for scientific purposes is regulated by Code of Social Law (Sozialgesetzbuch or SGB) ensuring compliance with data protection laws including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Germany’s Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG). Specifically, the SGB V (Fifth Book of Social Code) includes provisions for health insurance data to be used for scientific purposes when pseudonymized or anonymized. Data acquisition, use, and subsequent analysis was performed within the framework of a contractual agreement between OptiMedis AG and the respective health insurance funds with approval from the data protection officer.The principles outlined in the Declaration of Helsinki was strictly observed.All study procedures were conducted in accordance with Sect. 67b-3 of Book X of the German Code of Social Law (§67b SGB X). Access to databases used in this project was authorized by a data use and sharing agreement with the relevant social health insurance. As data used in this research to identify networks was pseudonymized, patients and office-based physicians do not need to be asked for written and informed consent.
