Ethics approval and consent to participate
: Participants were thoroughly informed in advance about the aim of the study, orally and in writing. An informative cover letter of the questionnaire was given by the field researchers to the participants along with the consent form which was signed and handed back over to the members of the research team; thus, it was ensured that the aim of the survey was fully clarified and that informed PHC users consented to participate. Also, approvals of the research protocol were ensured by the Scientific Committees of the selected public hospitals (“Sotiria” Athens General Hospital: 20899/20–10-17; 1st Health Region/“Alexandra” Athens General Hospital: 55736/27–7-17) and the CEOs of the Health Regions supervising the selected Health Centers (2nd Health Region: 29205/3–7-17; 5th Health Region: 18913/29–6-17; 6th Health Region: 27716/18–7-17). Additionally, written permission to carry out the study was granted by the Ministry of Health and the study was supported by the WHO Regional Office for Europe.
