: Ethical considerations were taken into account throughout the conduct of the tobacco smoking qualitative study. The study was conducted in accordance with the Declaration of Helsinki in its current version. The study presented in this manuscript was approved by the ethics committee of the Makerere University School of Public Health Higher Degrees Research and Ethics Committee (HDREC. All participants gave written informed consent.Prior to participating in the study, all participants were provided with comprehensive oral and written information regarding the study’s nature, purpose, potential risks and benefits. They were informed of their right to discontinue their participation at any time, and were given ample opportunity to ask questions and reflect on the provided information.
